Lauri Hoover - is the ‘Weaver In Charge’ at The Island Weaver.  This shop is the culmination of her vision and passion for fiber, it’s color and texture and possibilities! 


From raising and shearing sheep, to carding roving, dyeing, spinning and weaving, Lauri has had a hand in all levels of fiber fundamentals -- including birthing baby lambs on her ranch in Arizona! 


Now, Lauri brings her passion and experience to the artisan community at the Village At Winona, and couldn’t be more excited about it! 

The Island Weaver is a cozy and colorful fiber and yarn shop in the artisan community of The Village at Winona. We stock a wide array of yarns for knitting, weaving and other fiber arts, with a focus on natural fibers like wool, silk, and cotton. In addition to yarn, we carry fiber, tools and supplies to work in a variety of techniques such as dyeing, spinning, weaving, knitting and more. We have spinning wheels, looms and other equipment available to try, and knowledgeable, friendly staff to assist you. Come in and show us what you’re working on; we want to see! And, be sure to let us know if there are specific items you’d like the shop to stock and which techniques you most want to take classes in! We want our shop to grow in response to the needs and interests of this Fiber Arts Community and to provide a place where artists come together to inspire and learn from one another. Our on-going calendar of classes and events will be posted here on our website, in our newsletter and at the shop. Click over to the Groups and Parties page for information on hosting a party at The Island Weaver this spring or summer!  Hosting a family reunion and need somewhere to spend an afternoon with the cousins and aunts?  Schedule a time to come here and craft the afternoon away.  College friends in for the weekend?  Bring the girls over for a weaving class.  Calling for rain all week and don’t know what to do with the kids?  The Island Weaver can help with child-friendly classes for all ages.  Just call a few days in advance so we can properly staff and prepare for you!

Kids Classes for Summer

The Island Weaver is having classes for kids all summer long.  Felting, weaving, and more will take place every Tuesday and Thursday during June and July.  Click here for schedule information.

In May, The Island Weaver will take a vacation from classes.  It’s a busy month with events in The Village and with our staff, so we’ve decided to take a month off.  Classes will return in June and go on all summer.  See you then!
